Where can I lease a Tesla in Austin?

Elektrica Leasing offers Tesla lease-to-own programs right here in Austin, Texas. We maintain a curated inventory of Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y vehicles available for our lease-to-own program. Our office is located in Austin, and we serve the entire greater Austin and Round Rock metro area.

Unlike national online platforms that ship vehicles from out of state, we're a local Austin business. You can see the vehicle in person, take a test drive, and work with people who are part of your community. Apply online or call (512) 891-4008 to get started.

Can I lease a Tesla with bad credit?

Yes, you can apply for a Tesla lease through Elektrica Leasing even if your credit history is less than perfect. We use a flexible evaluation process that looks at your full financial picture — including income, employment stability, and driving history — not just your credit score.

Traditional credit isn't the only factor we consider. While we can't guarantee approval for every applicant, we work with a wider range of credit situations than most traditional lenders or Tesla's own financing options. Self-employed applicants, first-time credit builders, and anyone working to improve their score should apply.

How does rent-to-own work for a Tesla?

Rent-to-own (also called lease-to-own) for a Tesla works by structuring your lease payments so they build equity toward purchasing the vehicle. You drive the Tesla during the lease term, making regular payments that count toward the pre-agreed purchase price.

At the end of your term, you have the option to buy the vehicle at that locked-in price. It's different from a traditional lease where you simply return the car — with rent-to-own, you're working toward actual ownership. See our How It Works page for the full step-by-step breakdown.

What happens at the end of the lease term?

At the end of your lease term, you have two options: purchase the Tesla at the pre-agreed price set in your original agreement, or return the vehicle. Most of our customers choose to purchase because their payments have been building equity throughout the lease.

The purchase price is locked in from day one — no renegotiation, no dealer markup, no surprises. If your situation changes and you decide not to purchase, you can return the vehicle in accordance with the terms of your agreement.

Is lease-to-own better than financing a used Tesla?

Lease-to-own can be a better fit than traditional financing depending on your situation. If you have strong credit and a large down payment, traditional financing may offer lower total cost. But if you're building credit, self-employed, new to credit, or prefer a lower barrier to entry, lease-to-own gives you access to a Tesla that traditional lenders might not approve.

You also get the flexibility to return the vehicle if your plans change — something traditional financing doesn't offer. For many Austin drivers, it's the most practical path to owning a Tesla without going through a traditional dealership.

What is included in the lease?

Your lease includes the vehicle itself and access to our support team throughout your term. Tesla vehicles come with the manufacturer's remaining warranty coverage, including battery and drivetrain warranty.

Routine maintenance like tire rotations and brake checks are the lessee's responsibility, though Teslas require significantly less maintenance than gas vehicles — no oil changes, no transmission service, no exhaust system. If body work or collision repair is needed, our partner Complete Collision & Auto Repair in Austin can help at preferred rates.

Can I lease an electric car without a traditional credit check?

Elektrica Leasing uses a flexible credit evaluation that goes beyond traditional credit checks. We consider multiple factors including income verification, employment stability, and rental history — traditional credit isn't the only factor.

We don't run a hard credit inquiry during the initial application stage. While some form of background verification is part of our final approval process, our program is specifically designed for customers who may not qualify through conventional lending channels. What documents do I need to apply?

To start the application, you just need your name, phone number, email, and the vehicle you're interested in. No Social Security number is required for the initial inquiry.

If approved to move forward, we'll ask for:

  • Proof of income — pay stubs, bank statements, or tax returns for self-employed applicants
  • Valid driver's license — current and in good standing
  • Proof of insurance — or willingness to obtain full coverage
  • Proof of residence — utility bill or similar document showing your Austin-area address

The exact requirements may vary. Start your application and we'll walk you through exactly what's needed for your situation.
